Ileal Digestibility of Amino Acids in Fish Meal-Based Diets for Broiler Starters Using Regression Technique
Authors
Abstract:
An experiment was conducted to determine apparent ileal digestibility of crude protein (CP) and amino acids (AA) and digestible CP and AA of fish meal (FM) in 21-d-old broiler chickens using the regression technique. Four diets containing 0, 1, 2, and 3% FM in place of cornstarch were formulated with FM as the sole contributor of CP and AAs in the sequential diets. Eighty 14-d-old broiler chicks were weighed, and sorted by body weight and randomly allotted to the experimental diets with 4 replicates per diet and 5 chicks per replicate. Titanium dioxide was added to the diets at the rate of 5 g/kg diet as an indigestible marker. They were fed the experimental diets till d 21 post hatch when they were killed by asphyxiated with CO2 and digesta from the last two-third of ileum collected. The concentrations of CP and AA in the diets increased as dietary FM increased. Apparent digestibility of CP and AA significantly (P

full textComparison of the Ileal Digestibility of Amino Acids in Meat and Bone Meal for Broiler Chickens and Growing Rats
The apparent ileal amino acid digestibility in 15 meat and bone samples was compared in growing broiler chickens and growing laboratory rat. The animals were given a diet containing meat and bone meal as the sole source of protein. All diets contained chromic oxide as the indigestible marker to calculate the digestibility estimates. Comparison of digestibility data shows that, for all dispensab...
full textIleal Digestibility of Amino Acids in Meat Meal and Soybean Meal Fed to Growing Pigs
The objective of this experiment was to determine the concentration and digestibility of crude protein (CP) and amino acid (AA) in meat meal (MM), and to compare these values with the respective values in soybean meal (SBM). Six barrows (initial body weight = 66.9±3.8 kg) surgically fitted with a T-cannula at the distal ileum were allotted to a replicated 3×3 balanced Latin square design with 3...
full textDetermination of prececal nutrient digestibility of raw, protease-supplemented shrimp meal and fish meal in broilers using regression approach
This study was carried out to measure the prececal protein and ether extract digestibility of shrimp and fish meal using the regression approach. A total of 280 Cobb 500 day-old broilers (mixed sexes) were randomly allotted to 7 treatment groups (4 replicates of 10 broilers each) in a completely randomized design. Feed intake was higher in the birds that received protease-supplemented shrimp me...
full textBroiler Diets Formulated Based on Digestible Amino Acid Values as Determined by in vivo and Prediction Methods
The aim of the present study was to assess whether near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) and regression equations are the practical and accurate approach of nutritional assessment of common feedstuffs. Therefore two experiments were conducted to study the effect of amino acid determination methods on broiler performance. In experiment I, two hundred thirty four male Ross broiler chicks ...
full textInfluence of guanidination on apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids in pigs fed diets with soybean meal, rapeseed meal or peas as a protein source
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of guanidination, the conversion of dietary lysine to homoarginine, on the apparent ileal digestibilities (AID) of amino acids (AA) from 3 protein sources in diets for pigs. Six barrows, initial body weight of 18±1.5 kg, fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum, were fed one of three corn starch-based diets that contained 18% cru...
